BOND BUG 700 ES 1971
I had always fancied one of these. This one had a 750 cc Reliant engine fitted and would do well over 70 easily. Unfortunately this one blew its liner seals (?) so filled up with mayonnaise all the time. Apart from that it was perfect when I got it, so there wasn't anything left to do to it except spoil it. I sold it to someone who placed an ad looking for one.
During its time with me I managed to lose it down the inspection pit - pushed it backwards and forgot it only had one front wheel - Doh! It took three of us to lift it out. As a driving experience it is great fun - fast, wobbly - goes round corners in an interesting fashion. This one had no sidescreens, so the drivers right leg is freezing while the left is roasting, being pressed up against the fibreglass engine cover. There's also nowhere to rest youR left foot, so it gets very tiring keeping it off the clutch pedal.
There is a very active owners club with excellent parts availability, and you certainly get noticed. |

Look - it goes! Later Bugs were made by Reliant, but this was one of the last of the Bond - manufactured examples. |
