BOND EQUIPE GT4S

We bought this with a lot of the work done, finished it off with an exhaust and various other tinkering, painted it and sorted out the interior - it went fine, the pictures show it at the Perth Motor Mile show in 1996 (that's Perth, Scotland, incidentally). Unfortunately, shortly after this a rear wheel detached itself at 60 mph, complete with hub and brake drum, and damn near killed me. I let the insurance company write it off, and I believe someone else is fixing it now. Should have kept it.

Model history

This was the second incarnation of the Bond Equipe, it uses Spitfire/Herald mechanicals, chassis, bulkhead and doors with a glassfibre shell. This one had a 1500 twin carb Spitty engine in it, so went quite well. It's not the most beautiful car in the world, but has a great British daftness about it, like some of the others in my car history. It came with unique rounded bucket seats and a cool Les Leston wheel (which I kept and is now on the Spitty), along with the wooden Vitesse dash it looked every inch the 60's sports car.
